Safeguarding

At St John and St James, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where every child can learn, grow, and thrive. The welfare of our pupils is our highest priority, and we believe that all children have the right to feel protected, valued, and listened to.

Our staff are fully trained in safeguarding procedures and work together to identify and respond to any concerns promptly and effectively. We follow national and local safeguarding guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education, and work closely with parents, carers, and outside agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes for our pupils.

Creating a culture of safety means equipping children with the knowledge and confidence to keep themselves safe—both in school and in the wider world. Through our curriculum, assemblies, and daily interactions, we help pupils understand how to stay safe, make responsible choices, and build positive relationships.

At St John and St James, safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we are committed to working in partnership with our whole school community to keep every child safe.
