Collective Worship
At St John and St James, Collective Worship is a pivotal part of each school day. It offers pupils and staff a meaningful moment to come together, pause, reflect, and—by invitation—pray. Throughout the week, biblical teaching is woven into our worship, alongside our school’s Christian vision and values, helping to guide and inspire our whole community.
We gather for assembly every day, providing regular opportunities for our children to think deeply and reflect. Each Wednesday, our local priest, Father Nigel, leads worship. This cherished time is valued by all pupils, whether they are Christian or not, as it supports their spiritual and personal development.
We are also proud of our team of Collective Worship Leaders. They help lead assemblies in their classrooms, keep our prayer spaces updated, and play an important role in organising and supporting the school’s charity events.
Our local church, St John the Evangelist, is an important part of our school’s spiritual life. Children have the opportunity to visit this place of worship at Christmas, Easter, and for our Leavers’ Mass. During this special service, our Year 6 altar servers pass the baton to the upcoming Year 5 pupils, continuing a valued tradition. St John the Evangelist holds multiple services each week (more information can be found on their page: achurchnearyou.com/church/15614).
